Patrick McCauley, Chestnut Hill College

We are proud to welcome Dr. Patrick McCauley to the festival faculty. Dr. McCauley is co-organizer (with Karen Wendling, Ph.D.) of the Annual Harry Potter Academic Conference in Philadelphia and author of Into the Pensieve: The Philosophy and Mythology of Harry Potter (2015). Dr. McCauley will give the talk “Object or Agent? Authentic Female Identity in Harry Potter” and also participate in a panel about copyright and the Harry Potter intellectual property.  

Dr. McCauley received a Ph.D. in philosophical theology and literature from the University of Iowa in conjunction with the University of Glasgow and its Centre for the Study of Literature, Theology & the Arts. Rr. McCauley received a master's in English literature from Binghamton, and a BS in cinema production from Ithaca College. He teaches religion, literature, and philosophy at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia.

Dr. McCauley is currently working on large project centered on the emergence of strong female protagonists in recent Young Adult literature tentatively called The Diana Archetype.
